Reputation is legacy, and it is one of the most valuable assets – if not the most valuable asset – that a company or organization can have.
Reputation is essential for companies and organizations to be truly successful. It is an emotional connection that is built, achieved and enhanced through various communication/PR activities such as advocacy, government relations, media profile, customer loyalty, stakeholder communications and employment engagement.
Research, attention to detail, solid fundamentals, creative strategy, first-class implementation, a penchant for action, occasionally some irreverence, and measuring results complete the armamentarium.
Legacy Public Affairs is the next chapter after a most rewarding career of more than 32 years on the Senior Management Team at the Alberta Medical Association [AMA]. As a result, I enjoy an extensive network of experts in fields such research, graphic design, event planning, government relations. I am also associated with a consultancy consortium, Kratos.
Legacy Public Affairs offers expertise and experience in:
- Reputation management
- Issues management
- Media profile
- Government relations
- Speech writing
My personal strengths include strategy, focusing, simplifying the complex, seeing dots that others don’t see, connecting the dots, making sense from chaos, non-linear thinking, adaptability, persistence, extreme calm under pressure, and not afraid of confrontation if it’s unavoidable.
I have advanced standing in reputation management from the Reputation Institute, and I’ve earned more than two dozen international, national and local awards for communication excellence.
With the International Association of Business Communicators [IABC] I have:
- Earned my ABC designation [Accredited Business Communicator]
- Been recognized as a MC [Master Communicator]
- Served as Chair of IABC’s prestigious international Gold Quill Awards Program in communications excellence, and have been a member numerous times of the program’s elite Blue Ribbon Panel
Prior to the Alberta Medical Association, I worked very closely with a Manitoba cabinet minster. I’ve been involved in half-a-dozen provincial and federal election campaigns and three leadership campaigns; have been president of a provincial constituency association; and have attended numerous annual meetings, policy retreats and leadership dinners of different political parties.
I spent a decade in journalism, mostly with the Winnipeg Free Press and Winnipeg Tribune. As far as media profile, I have conducted workshops for hundreds of physicians, politicians and the International Skating Union, among others.
